He mea tiki ake i ngā kupu nei i te mōteatea a Te Kooti Arikirangi, Pinepine Te Kura. Ko te mōteatea he kuru pounamu, he taonga puipuiaki, he kura kua whakairohia ki te whakaaro, kua whakairohia ki te aroha hei waka huia e rarawe ana i te ngerongero o te whakaaro, te kupu, te kōrero, te mātauranga o te kaiwhakairo i te kupu. He tatau te mōteatea ki te tirohanga Māori.
Ko te pūtake, ariā matua o tēnei kaupapa rangahau te putunga o te mātauranga o te reo mōteatea. He whakaora hītōria me te ao hou mātauranga, he rau whakaū mātauranga mō ngā mōteatea tawhito me ngā mōteatea o ēnei rā hāngai ana ki tōku iwi a Te Whakatōhea. Ko ngā mōteatea, ngā waiata he pūpū mai i a tātou kōrero ki te wāhi kotahi hai taumata whakaora, whakatinana i wā tātou kōrero.
