Abstract

This thesis aims to remember and reimagine a Māori healing framework and Whānau practice grounded in mātauranga Māori to support Whānau Māori in moving out of 'te kahu pō o te patu ngākau' (the dark cloak of domestic and sexual violence) and towards a transformative process that fosters flourishing, sustainable Whānau oranga across generations. The key research question is how can Māori healing practices and frameworks contribute to transformative policies required for the development of a ‘by Māori, for Māori’ care system?
