Good Kaupapa Māori-led research that is supported by and for Māori is transformative! I have developed and led qualitative and quantitative research that contributed to establishing kohanga reo, kura kaupapa Māori, and a Māori radio station in Wellington. I’ve worked as a researcher to understand the experiences of Māori young people removed from their families, to establish a Māori child, adolescent, and family mental health service, to strengthen early and culturally appropriate access to primary Māori mental health, sexual health, and maternal health services. I like Māori and Indigenous comparative policy research and my doctoral research examined Māori and Indigenous knowledges in health policy in Aotearoa and Saskatchewan, Canada.
